Play Copied PS1 Games on PS2 No Mod Needed

31 12 2008

That is right! There is no need to mod your PS2 to play all the classic PS1 games any longer! The trick is simple and is easy to do.

What you need:

  • Playstation 2, controllers, TV etc etc
  • A REAL ps1 Game, any game, it doesn’t matter
  • The Copied game that you are going to play
  • A credit card, or something thin and strong like a credit card

What we do it turn on the PS2 without any games in it. Once it starts up you should get the option to go into the Browse Menu where you can mess with your Memory Card’s and stuff. At this screen if yo uhave a memory card plugged in you should see it, and it will probably be highlighted. At this point press the eject button on the PS2, put in the REAL PS1 Game, then close the tray. After a second a golden looking CD will show up in the browse menu on the TV screen. At this point the PS2 has done ALL the validation for the PS1 game and all we need to do it put in the copied game and play it.

The problem is that if you press the eject button the PS2 will try to re validate the CD again. So we take the Credit Card and put it under the PS2 Tray, in the middle. If you can’t get it under the tray then you may need to the the front of the try off….you know, the piece of plastic that has the Playstation logo on it. It should break right off without hurting anything else…. I never did figure out how to take it off with out breaking it…

The card goes right in the middle, under the tray. Now feel around, it should be a tight fit, the card should be able to go pretty far in, at least half way. Then you are going to push the card, or slide it, towards the reset and eject buttons, towards the top of the Playstation. (I suggest doing this while the ps2 is laying side ways on the ground cause its a bit easier).

When you push the card in there you should feel something move a little bit and they tray should open at least slightly. At this point pull the tray the rest of the way out….use the corner of the card or something to pull it out further. Put in the copied PS1Game, and push it back in. Make sure you push the tray is hard enough so that the momentum of the moving parts causes the tray to close all the way, back to how it was before we put the credit card in there. The little piece of plastic we pushed when we put the credit card in there is called a Cog. The cog can break off, so be gentle with it. If you persue getting a memory card mod for the PS2 you can play copied PS2 games with a program known as CogSwap, which is a single .ELF file that essentially does the same thing as the PS1 swap disk trick.

So when all is said and done you should be able to press X on the golden colored CD in the PS2’s browse menu and the game should boot up!

You can save your games and everything just like normal.

I even found a YouTube Video on it so that I didn’t have to make one my self:

Turning Leaf White Zinfandel $5

31 12 2008

Being in the middle lower class of America at this time in my life, I find that a nice glass of wine is more than enough to make things seam a lot better than they really are! Some times…..most of the time, it ends up being a bottle or two, in all honesty. Turning Leaf White Zinfandel, talk about bang for your buck! The $5 bottle of wine is one of the best, for it’s price. It is sweet, ever so slightly bubbly, and has enough alcohol to get just about anyone dunk or at least buzzed by the 3rd cup. Being the 6 foot tall 240 lbs guy that I am, that’s pretty good!

This wine is a light pink color, and the bottle is closed with a cork, so make sure to find yourself a bottle opener! Typically this beverage can be found at Bevmo, and occasionally at 7-11 though last time I went there they said they didn’t carry it. Have fun and be safe!

ePSXe

A decent Playstation Emulator that I have used in the past, ePSXe. It was simple and easy to use. The hard part, at the time I was trying to do it, was locating all the Playstation drivers and bios files, etc etc. But now it is way easier. Torrents are great for that stuff!

If you don’t know about torrents, then I highly suggest you first download an Antivirus (Such as the AVG Free, The Free AntiVirus Software) and if you have access to a firewall, use it. Download a Torrent program such as UTorrent, and then head over to the pirate bay and do some searching!

You should have what you are looking for in a matter for minutes!
